Baba-Mamie voyante

Baba the witch, aka Fortune Teller Granny is Wonderful Turtle's older sister. She's seen for the first time after Sangoku crushed down the Red Ribbon army in Dragon Ball. Wonderful Turtle advises Goku to go ask her where the last crystal ball is. But she asks a big sum of money (10 millions)in exchange for her services. Goku and his friends haven't got enough money with them, and they have to fight Baba's five warriors (Dracula Man; The invisible Man, the Mummy,the Devil man, and Sangohan, Sangoku's grandfather)to get a free consultation. Baba recruits only the very best(most are beyond the level of the participants to the martial arts world championship, some are even notorious in the world of fight) and only Goku manages to get rid of these fighters, despite Baba's various tricks to defeat the challengers, mostly for her own fun, (unseasable or invisible warrior, struggle over a lake of acid against warriors apparently coming straight from hell). Sometimes, she even helps her own fighters (loyalty being of no account to her) as when she sings to prevent Yamcha from concentrating on the air movements produced by the Invisible man. They are finally all defeated and, as promised, she gives her services to Goku, whose potential was proven through those fights, which makes his master respect him. Baba can grant a day on earth to dead people. That's how she gets good fighters (time having no importance in hell, eternity can be spent training)and she could fetch Gohan after foreseeing the arrival of his grandson. In DBZ, Wonderful Turtle goes to see her and know the outcome of the fight against the Saiyens, but the strengths of the inhabitants of earth growing ever bigger, in particular those of Goku, then on the snake road, prevent her from foreseeing anything at all. She helps Sangoku so that he can come back on earth for a day and take part in the martial arts championship. She also brought back Vegeta on earth to help fight Boo (Enma, judge of the other world had kept the body in case of necessity although usually murderers' souls are purified and any memory from their earthly life is taken from them)that's where her vile nature is made clear, as when she leaves Vegeta during the fight against Boo, for fear of being too implicated. Baba makes a few appearances in the animated, like during the fight against the Saiyens, when, at her brother's place, she uses her crystal to see the fight, after the destruction of the journalists' cameras on the spot.
